What Are NDIS Disability Providers?
Organisations such as People Care Services are specialists in providing a variety of support and quality-of-life services for people with disabilities. It is our aim to help you live to your full potential.
For those unaware, NDIS stands for National Disability Insurance Scheme. Support and services are Australia-wide, with many organisations both large and small. After you have been approved, it is time to find the right provider for your situation. This is key to getting the support you need.
Every client has individual needs and goals, and it is important that your NDIS disability provider has flexibility where it is needed.
A service provider is defined as an individual who delivers support to a participant of NDIS.
Some will have limited services that cater to specific needs, and others will have the ability to support a wide range of client needs. That being said, bigger is not necessarily better when it comes to the quality of care.
Every state has a combination of registered and non-registered service providers that help people with disability in fulfilling their NDIS requirements.
The question is how do you find the best NDIS service provider for your situation? Firstly, identify the types of service you require as there are two types on offer – the first is NDIS plan management and the second being NDIS support coordination. These are different in what they offer, so it helps to read about the differences. We will cover that in a future post.
Once you identify the type of service that will help you achieve your goals, you can research the providers located in your area and whether they are the right fit for you.
What you can do to be aware of NDIS service providers includes:
- Look up service providers online. Local is better but some larger providers can cover a larger area, particularly if you are more rural.
- Choose whether you want a registered provider, or are happy with a non-registered provider. This can vary depending on the complexity of care needed.
- Word of mouth can be helpful, particularly if you know other people who receive services through the NDIS. Support groups, local child health nurses and community organisations are a good start.
- Don’t be afraid to make contact with different NDIS support service providers to find the one that suits you
